West coast of France

On holiday at the parent in laws place in Normandy. Weather's a bit ropey so we're thinking about doing a bit of a tour down the west coast, a bit of air bnb and camping.

Any suggestions for nice areas to stop or specific Airbnb's/camping spots? Coastal/beaches is good and also more rural foresty, not really looking at the cities so much.

Probably won't go any further south than Bordeaux as we have a 4 and 1 1/2 year old with us and don't want too much car time, anywhere north of that is fair game though!

Cheers in advance!

I live about an hours drive inland from La Rochelle which is a good place to go with young kids as there is a lot to do (Beach, Aquarium etc). You have Royan, Santes and some other nice places close by. About an hour or so away is Poitiers where they have Futuroscope and also a place with Monkeys (Vallee de Sanges if spelt correct).

Before heading down to Loire Atlantique and onto the Vendee why not head towards Vannes and take a look at the gulf of Morbihan, it is a magical place loads of aires and camping.

Yep, spelt wrong.  Should be La Vallée des Singes.

Cognac is nice also and do boat trips on the river.
