Class machine.........In my opinion, Betamax was much better quality

Picture wise it was. Just like DCC was better sound that Mini Disc and HD-DVD probably had better feature set than BluRay. Funny how we always chose the worst option technolgy wise isnt it?

It certainly is. Wasn't Betamax v VHS just a marketing battle, which VHS won, so I suppose we didn't have much choice

Most pre-recorded tapes - e g films - were on VHS, so Betamax's market share slowly dwindled and faded away.

Had a ZX81, Atari 400 and then a ZX Spectrum as I was growing up - scary thing is how expensive they were at the time, we think of a lot electronics good becoming cheaper and better over time, but if those machines came on market today at their original prices people would fall out of their X Rocker 51396's

It's probably a myth, but I heard that the porn industry supported VHS and that meant that Betamax never stood a chance.
