So how much have we got coming to us?

Whatever the amount it's unlikely to make much difference.

We (Bristol City) make a loss every year - anywhere between £8M - £15M - depending on how much is spent on player acquisitions, the more we spend the more we lose.  Steve Lansdown picks up the tab (either by a loan, or by taking a (even) larger equity stake.

If money comes in from Palace (between £3M and £5M are the most popular guesses) - then that's £3-£5M less for Steve to fork out.

The budget for the year is set, If SL wanted  (or felt it necessary to) increase the budget he's wealthy enough to do that with or without the Bolasie money.

The only person it really benefits is SL

Nothing quite like a bit of optimism to cheer us all up !

It will increase our turnover and therefore increases our position with FFP.

Considering our annual turnover (based on 2014) was around £8m, a boost of £3m+ could make a big difference.

Long term SL would love to offset his losses but methinks he would , at this stage , see such money as a way to get us nearer the Prem . His return will be then .

Don't get me wrong, it's great for the club to get a bonus payment of £5-6m. However, I do wonder whether people realise that this amount only equates to roughly about 0.25% of SL's wealth.

Not knocking him, but he's probably put in about 5% of his wealth to date (less than the average fan as a % I'd guess?) and owns AG and other assets. At some point we will reach the premiership, and no doubt he'll get a great ROI, but let's no over-estimate the importance of this paycheck, as nice as it is.

Not disagreeing with you, but what a time to be alive.

2nd tier side, and the best part of £5m makes 'little difference'.

Do we have to give Plymouth anything? If they had a sell on clause inserted when we purchased him they would be due a percentage of this too.

Doesn't the sell on clause work just once? i.e. Plymouth received a percentage of the 300k we received from Palace. If they had such a clause inserted of course. We wouldn't get anything if Everton sold Bolasie.

Don't think it works like that. It'd be a sell on for the first transfer - us to palace. When he moved to palace his transfer and contract became a new entity entirely.

Surely it all depends on what was written into the clause? I can vaguely remember some examples of this in the past.
