slartibartfast
Haven't actually seen replay, but I thought refs weren't sending players off for being the last man, anymore, thinking that pen is sufficient punishment. Am I right ?

And Its Smith
The red card was correct in this occasion as the referee deemed the player didn't make a genuine attempt to play the ball.
Snufflelufagus
On the radio they said the new rule was along the lines that if you are trying to play the ball ie make a tackle then it is a yellow. If you make a foul with a part of your body that can't play the ball ie pulling someone then its a red.
Fiale
The player fell forward and performed a rugby tackle using his arms to bring the player down - so it had to be red - I doubt he did it intentionally, maybe slipped or lost balance, but you can't just yellow something like that.
