Admin phantom Posted November 9, 2016 Admin Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 Adam Armstrong bagged a hat-trick as England Under-20s made a winning start to the Continental Cup in South Korea on Wednesday morning after an 8-1 victory over Nigeria. The Young Lions, who in East Asia as they continue their preparations for the U20 World Cup there next summer, made an electric start to the game at the Suwon Sports Complex and were four goals clear by half time. Captain Taylor Moore got things started in the 19th minute, before Armstrong doubled the lead just a minute later. Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke made it 3-0 in the 25th minute before Armstrong got his second of the afternoon two minutes later to complete a whirlwind eight-minute spell for Paul Williams’ side. Nigeria pulled a goal back through Abdulrazak Yusuf in the 35th minute, but England's flow of goals did not slow down after the break, as Callum Connolly and Patrick Roberts added to the tally in the first five minutes of the second half. Armstrong, currently on loan at Barnsley from Newcastle United, then completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute. And it was left to Celtic star Roberts, also out on loan from Manchester City, to add his second of the afternoon in the 87th minute to complete the scoring. England will be in action again on Friday, when they face the hosts South Korea at the same venue before the mini-tournament is rounded-off on Saturday with a game against Iran. Today: England U20s captained by a Bristol Rovers loanee Jake Clarke-Salter (parent club: Chelsea). Lose 2-1 against South Korea. Good to have an England U20 captain that we can truly call ours.
