Rather a morbid suggestion this, but nevertheless, here it is.

How about a new prediction thread whereby posters put forward the name of someone, who is reasonably well-known, e.g. being in the public domain, who they think will be next to turn up their clogs.

It runs until somebody is correct and then the listing starts again with the person who got it right scoring a point and then selecting someone else.

Please reply if you fancy taking part.

David Attenborough. Her Maj. or that Greek fella.

Another part of my formative years, happy memories of sniggering at dog-eared copies of Penthouse behind the bike sheds.

As a school friend of mine memorably said whilst perusing a copy `Blimey, it`s like a burst rugby ball`

I just hope that the pages weren't stuck together.

Depends if someone found it in the woods down the park or not. If they had they definitely would have been.

I never understood why they were always found in a hedgerow.....I always cherished mine!

Actually, they were ones filched from the old chap's drawer!

I was staying with a family in Devon whilst working away and I got on very well with the son , who , although a bit of a nutter Hell's Angel , was a good laugh .

It turned out that his parents were going to decorate his room and although he was a big tough son of a bitch he didn't want to upset his Mum so asked me if I would take his porn stash home with me and bring the mags back the next time I was scheduled to stay with them .

I agreed and returning briefly to my parental home for the weekend before working away again I hid the precious bundle in my wardrobe.

Two weeks later , on returning home I was confronted by my very angry parents who were livid that I had the nerve to bring such filth into the family home .

I tried to explain that they weren't mine but that didn't matter to them and in any case they burnt the lot .

:shocking:

I lived to tell the tale because my schedule was fortunately changed by my company . ( God appreciated my kind act I suppose )

For many years I avoided Devon and only started to feel less guilty with the arrival of internet porn to fill my friend's void.

There , my guilty secret .

I'd still stay away from Slapton Sands if I was you though Major, no point in tempting fate!  :)

RIP Tom Petty.  Don’t normally get affected by celebrity deaths but this is a shock

Nooooo! I was only listening to `Refugee` and `Free Falling` about two hours ago. I`m truly gutted by this news - a brilliant performer and songwriter. It will be a long time before we see his like again.

RIP Tom, anything that`s rock and roll`s fine.

Apparently he's not actually dead..

Certainly, there have been conflicting reports, but it does seem as if his life support machine has been turned off and a DNR order given.

On a slightly different subject, but related to conflicting reports of death, does anybody remember seeing back in August 1977 a report on local TV - it might have been Points West, but I cannot remember - wherein it was stated that Elvis Presley had died, then the presenter must have heard something from his director and, clearly embarrassed, changed it to something along the lines of 'No, he is not yet dead, he is seriously ill. No, he is dead. Yes, we can now confirm that Elvis Presley has died'?

Bobby Knutt - recently of Benidorm fame

Bobby recently played Eddie Dawson in Benidorm

I met him on several occasions as he was a friend of my boss , Bob  Cutler at the Baymead hotel in Weston.

Just an ordinary bloke . Many years later Alexi Sale did a character called  Bobby Chariot and I'm sure he was based on this guy .

RIP Bobby .

I saw them at (I think) the Hammersmith Odeon in about 1982, absolutely fantastic they were. I`ve had `Damn The Torpedoes` blasting out in the car all day today.

Just as a heads up, Sky Arts did a fabulous documentary on Tom a couple of years ago - it was about two hours long and was a great watch. He told it like it was, warts and all. With his passing there`s every chance they will repeat it in the next few days so make sure you watch it if they do - you won`t regret it.
