It's not kids dabbing, it's the whole commercialisation of something that shouldn't be commercialised.

Maybe it's just me, but I think you're looking far too deeply at this

It's a thing. Soon it won't be, another thing will come along

Us 'matures' should start 'our own' craze... Lets all do .... The Med Wave :)

(Ok yeah, took 10seconds to invent... anyone here got a 'cam-corder'?  ok put a tape in, film this...

"THE MED-WAVE'  .. World Premier........ Here it is ...... everybody ready for this?  :

PUT YER RIGHT HAND INTO YOUR RIGHT ARMPIT 'MED-WAVE' YOUR BENT ARM AROUND IN A WINGING IT MOTION'

(anyone using the MED-WAVE by way of protesting something can of course do the MED-WAVE DEMO by switching arms and doing it 'LEFT-WING' )

Ok cam corders at the ready?  lets do this and Go Viral! :)  (btw.. over 35's only!)

COYR's ... someone must have a VHS cam corder ...  I can't do movie on my old school Kodak instamatic,  ... come on we gotta show these Dabber Kids that we're trendy too, lets go viral with the Med-Wave dance, be there or be square, the flower still got the power, peace.

I'm one of the people that knew about it before which is probably why it annoys me. It's like Wigan stealing Freemans on Fire but much much worse.

I spend a great deal of time nowadays, in a state of bemused bafflement.

My thing is, trying to understand how I have lived into my mid 50's!

The list of things that we shouldn't have been doing, eating or drinking during that time seems to be increasing at a greater rate. I honestly don't know how I and 99% of my contemporaries have survived considering our apparent ignorance of the poisons in our food and drink (and now the cooking methods as well) and the "dangerous practices" in which we have participated.

Have to say, I feel like my Mother, the woman who carried me for 9 months, and gave birth to me has spent the next 40 odd years trying to kill me

Crispy roast potatoes give you cancer, ffs. You don't have a roast without crispy roast potatoes

Totally agree.

How our generation managed to survive to 2017 without Health and Safety is beyond me!

Perhaps we were told these things but have forgotten because we headed a football too many times?

This dab thing can be improved......

When we win on Saturday, the winning goalscorer  (let's say it's our new goalie) does that move. Upon completion, someone thows yellow powder over his head.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I give you the Sherbet Dab.

as a kid used to sleep with a tranny listening to 215(I think) maybe 211. thought it was a country turned out to be a ship.

You slept with a tranny? . Seriously though Radio Caroline? 199m - fading in and out and accompanied by the sound of the Morse code from the maritime traffic :) .........

At 52 (almost), I do too. The modern world just seems so....weird, and I don't like it much!

My kids think I am a hopeless case!

Ouch, shite,  forget the Med Wave, it hurts, just got back from the afternoon tea dance, and I'm in agony .... got a few members to try the Med-Wave out, and three of us got injured, two tennis elbows (Mavis & me) and poor old Phyllis had a flare up of the old carpal tunnel..  Sod it, let the kids boogie on with their dibble de doo Dabs, count I out of the viral dances... ooh oww, dammit.

:)

Well they are, that's what the gesture is literally about. Just because it's been commercialised  doesn't take away the meaning.

Its annoying, but it doesn't bother me so I shouldn't have even commented no.

This is an interesting point that made me think. I find that the meaning of everything is diminished by the commercialisation of it especially if no one knows the meaning - it just becomes a silly dance doesn't it?
