Will speak to my brother. He used to have a Vectra and he works in the trade as a mechanic. Does the stamp have to be a Vauxhall dealership do you know?

Nope and I'm loathe to take it to main dealer cos of the prices they charge. It just needs a stamp in the book to say I've had it serviced.

Depending on what type of exhaust pipe it has.......

I'm sure Rudolph would be more than happy to get stuck in and 'service' it for you! :)

(sorry no, can't help you regarding garage servicing)

He's just text me back and said try Graham Batt (specialises in German cars but does other makes too) on Feeder Road. He highly recommends them but he can't remember if they stamp for definite. He thinks they probably do though but double check. He also did say that if not a main dealer, it may affect any warranty with Vauxhall.

Hmm, car servicing can be a bit of a headache, not to mention a wallet ache.

After the Block Exemption ruling of a few years ago, any reputable garage can service your Vauxhall (or whatever make) - as long as they carry out the correct procedures and use approved parts and items. You are not restricted to a Vauxhall franchise. The stamp will be legally binding in that respect, as long as the above is true. If the servicing is done correctly then the warranty cannot be affected by law. Of course, the independents will charge less but you may be concerned that they may cut a few corners when servicing the car properly. (That said, there are many instances of franchised garages making errors!)

I don't know about your finance deal or whether you intend to keep the car when the time comes, Dolls. Using a franchised garage should give your car a slightly higher value at sell-on time. Naturally, you save a bit using an independent garage. You pays your money...

Resurrecting this.

How about Clevedon? Can anyone recommend anyone in Clevedon that will service the car? I can go to my mums or my sisters whilst they do it :)

Working in the motor trade at a franchised dealer I would say if your car was five or six years old take it to an independent dealer but as your is 15 plate it will still be under warranty.

A lot of the independents are great but they don't have any of the service updates and haven't sent there technician on the particular model training course.

My advice would be get it serviced by the franchised dealer as you can complain to the manufacturer if there is any problem. It is worth the extra money at trade in time as well. Hope this helps

Holders of Congresbury.

One of the best garages around in the whole of the BS postcode.

Otherwise in Clevedon itself, go to Clevedon Garages. Also excellent.

You really can't go wrong at either of those places.

For anyone else trying to find somewhere reputable and trading standards approved go on https://trustmygarage.co.uk/ to help ;)

Need to get my 15 plate Astra serviced at some point fairly soon. It's on finance so I need a stamp in the book.

Can anyone recommend anywhere good/not expensive. I'm in Headley Park, so near there would be useful but not essential.

All Vauxhall dealers are total ****s.

Booking a service with any Vauxhall dealer is like putting your hand into a nest of Vipers.

Why, FFS, did you buy a Vauxhall?

:grr:
