Sadly we now need to win 50% of our remaining games to stay up ! It really is too late for us now I fear. Even if if we're not in the drop zone now , our form will inevitably get us there !

That can't be right. 10-12 points would have a good chance of seeing us safe, so 3 wins and a couple of draws would have us knocking at the door.

Grim whichever way you look at it though. Saturday really is must win.

And in the last 25 games it's 5 wins, 4 draws & 16 defeats. That's clearly relegation form. And if you take the last 23 games (half a season) it's just 3 wins.

No evidence of any corners being turned. We are taking the direct route to League 1!

12 games to go and statistically 50 points has proven to be the tally that will keep you up over many years . We're 17 points of of that so with 12 games left ...... the maths are there !!

The table after 34 games last year, and this year.

We have less points 22nd and 23rd have more, and what with Blackburn's 34th game against Wigan, at least one or both of the teams currently below us will have more again after Saturday.

Think we'll need closer to 50 to stay up this season; Rotherham's form has been so bad that it skews the bottom three - my worry now is that the Burton match falling on the same day as Blackburn play Wigan could place us under very heavy pressure going forward, as a loss to Burton coupled with a Blackburn win would see us three points adrift of them, and with only Wolves within a win (but with two games in hand on us).

SL spoke about not being "cut adrift"; well, brace yourselves - the way our form is (and please let's be realistic; Burton are 13th in the form table after the last 6, and 18th in the last 10, while we're 21st and 23rd) the 'drift' might start this weekend.

For me, it may already be too late for us at that point.  And fair play to Blackburn's owners; never want to see anyone sacked, but look to have moved decisively at the right time.

Will certainly be very interesting to hear SL's thoughts on how things went if (and I hope it is only 'if') we do end up going down.

Except in the last ten years you've never needed 50 points to survive in the championship. The average figure is closer to 40.

The mythical 50 points is either a very outdated average from bygone times or plucked from thin air. 50 points last year  was 10 points clear of the drop!
