Do Charlton have the best academy? De Girolamo seems to have been tearing it up like McCoulsky recently. Will he train with the first team next year or go out on loan? Indeed, can be hard to judge what it means when we've had players out on loan who would likely otherwise have featured/McCoulsky in and out of the side sharing his time with Bath City. Kid in the Riot Posted April 25, 2017 Report Share Posted April 25, 2017 It's such a tight league I don't think you can tell much. 3 weeks ago we were second bottom. Think all you can tell from that table is that Charlton and Millwall have pretty good u23 sides. The rest are all bunched together and so much of a muchness! Garycpos Posted April 25, 2017 Report Share Posted April 25, 2017 A lot of Academies have various levels of age within the U23 Team, so the likes of Charlton could have a lot of 20/21/22 year old's playing and other Teams could have a lot of 18/19yr olds. So it does not really indicate a great deal other than they are playing well. Last nights game against Cardiff made a statement on Wales Online saying they had 5/6 U18's playing against us, but what they did not know is that we had 5 u18's playing also. We have a very young U23 side with 95% either 19 or under !! In fact I think there is only one player over 20 in the squad, so to be were we are is excellent !! and bodes well for future player pool.
