1960maaan
Finally, the end of the season. From the Squatters at home to Prison away, good season but couldn't quite win the whole thing. Looking at our fixture list it brings home how bad my memory is. I know I went to most of the away games , but that's as far as it goes. Some I'm not sure I was even there or if I'm thinking of a different game. Few memories though: Grimsby, nearly ended up in Leeds thanks to the Posts 'directions'. Northampton, drinking on the bank as no pubs! Sothend, I think this was the one we paid to get in seconds before the gates went and everyone else got in free. Millwall, I think this was the one our van was smashed up, with us in it. Carlisle, worked Friday night until 5:30, home by 6am, mate turns up at 6:20 in the services outside Carlisle before 11am. Wigan - cold ! Wycombe, THAT pub and being escorted out of their stand ! Burnley, never offside. Preston cowards, gangs of lads jumping blokes on their own and scarfers ! *******! Anyway , I think we could have won it with the Goat but hey. Another thing I remember from this year is the fickleness of the football fan. A mate at 10 points or so behind Watford "we've got no chance they've won it" later , with us a few points ahead. "They'll never catch us now" , I learnt a long time ago not to 'go' to early. The change of leader for the division does make interesting reading.
