PAFC Fan in peace here ( and just about recovered from the trauma of the League Cup debacle)

Whilst on holiday I amused myself by researching the clubs best nicknames for players...it struck me that most clubs have a Pshcho, Animal or Beast in their history, but quite a few also have a Dave ( for a complicated players usually foreign, name) and a Trigger...

there were also some great funny original ones...One Size Fitz hall, in Rugby there was John "Nobody" eales , because Nobody;s perfect and "Live Fast" Dai young!!

Any classic City ones spring to mind?

used to love it when Wayne was called Tanglefoot - a great servant for us, but never a more apt name! Living in Poland, i frequently talk about Jacki to the natives who find it hilarious that that's how we refer to the wonderful Dariusz Dziekanowski.

Wayne Allison  was known as ' The Chief '

Not City but my favourite was always "One-size" Fitz Hall.

A very good one, but my favourite is the player who surely has to be known as "Judy"...

I always liked the Man City fans nickname for Neil Pointon, who didn't exactly impress after signing from Everton; they called him 'Disa'

Still like when we sold CH Julian Watts to Luton late season (before the windows were put in). They gave him a shirt with 40 on it and everyone called him Lightbulb.

as well, yes. think it was mainly the fanzines in them days that called him tanglefoot, but it was certainly a name he had. an epic player!

Korey Smith is called Smudge, no idea why, would love to know.

Scott Murrays brother Ian is called Molbs/Molbsy again no idea why.

Smudge is a usual nickname for anyone called Smith

As for Molby, I'd suggest that Scotty's brother may be carrying a little bit of timber?

I did once hear a city player calling for a pass from Mickey Bell shouting "Bell end".

Fairly sure it was in the Bountyhunter or similar, but I recall some match report that indicated some City players had a catchy nickname for Jacki: think it was Martin Scott noted for shouting "tackle back you lazy Polish ****" at our erstwhile maverick.

Not quite a nickname but I remember taking a particularly right-on work colleague to a night match after we`d been on a course in Bristol. Kevin Amankawah was playing and I shouted out something like `FFS Manky, track your man`. She went ******* mental at me thinking I`d called him monkey! Took me and the mates we were sat with ages to convince her otherwise!

Reversing it somewhat there was a time when footballers playing golf used to refer to a tricky short putt as a `Dennis Wise` - a nasty little five footer.

Easier just to say a ***t then

Whole host of those (albeit not football related):
Princess Diana
Grace Kelly
Sally Gunnell
Adolf
etc.

I used to stand in the Enclosure in the Williams and the blokes around me used to refer to Scott McGarvey as 'Gerroff McGarvey'.
