Port Said Red Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I got these grapkics from the BBC site tonight. Is it me or are they a bit light on assists, I am sure Famara should have a couple at least and only 1 for Bobby doesn't feel right at all/

For me Diedhiou assisted the first goal vs Barnsley. I agree and he was brought down for the free kick that Patterson scored against Derby, that's an assist in my book.
Lanterne Rouge Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 And he hit the bar for Bobby to score at Brum didn`t he?

And Its Smith Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 Assist stats are the worst stat in football. They prove nothing really as the above shows. If i passed to Reid from 10 yards away and he smashed it in from 25 yards i would have an assist. If Reid did a dummy to take out two defenders from a Paterson pass for Diedhiou to score then Reid would get zero credit on assist stats

Dr Balls Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 In football, the assist statistic does seem something of a lottery rather than an agreed measure. Much clearer in Ice Hockey where up to 2 players get credited with assisting, and it's related to set up passes. That said, who cares! On any measure we have 2 of the top scorers, and best of all, goals coming from all over the team. That's always the sign of a team playing well.
