Would love the City players to sing this or Drink Up Thee Cider in the changing room after every win.........

Bristol Rugby Players Team Song, Where be that Blackbird to?

I know there is a video somewhere on YouTube (think it was at the Lloyds amphitheatre after the Cotts double bus tour) of the players on the stage singing Drink Up Thee Cider. Sure someone will post it.

The Glos lads have never heard the rendition by them :)

Up the Glos

Me and the kids sing that in the car. Family anthem. Adge Cutler, Nempnet Thrubwell's Shakespeare.

Love to see Famara trying to get his head round Adge's accent mind.

If the 5 or 6 south sea islanders playing for Bris can do it I will back Famara to do the same.

I remember a lovely little book, "The Krek Waiters Peak Brissle".  Anyone know if it is still available?

You used to be able to buy copies in the gift shop in the Museum, but i don't know if that's still the case. Written by Derek Robinson (Dirk Robson) :) .

EDIT: *It appears that an original is worth a few quid if you can find one! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Waiters-Bristle-Correct-Speak-Bristol/dp/B000MLDJLE, but it seems to have been rereleased under a different title? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Load-Old-Bristle-Waiters-Dialect/dp/185306792X/ref=pd_sim_14_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=33B6YENYWEV14FW9MA9B

At Glastonbury a couple of years ago we got talking to a couple of obviously northern lads. We got chatting about football and one of them asked 'what's that song you sing about a blackbird'?' he had heard it being sung whist he was in the away end and couldn't make it out. They wanted to learn the song!

So be proud of me people, I had a Blackburn fan and a Preston fan belting out 'I sees Ee and Ee sees I' at 2.30am from the top of the hill overlooking the festival!

Wasn't there someting on the tellybox called "Krek Brizzle"?

Sang it walking down the strip in Marbella once. Got stopped by a couple of guys from Bridgwater. After they established that we weren't from WSM we all carried on singing it together.  Cracking little tune.

I'll be honest, I couldn't care less about rugby but I didn't realise bris had so many foreign imports!

Looking at their squad they have

1 American

1 Argentinian

1 Australian

1 Georgian

2 New Zealanders

1 South African

5 Samoans

and 3 Tongans!

Where be that blackbird too? :)

I think it's true that a lot of the Samoan and Tongans are those who were unable to get a game for the All Blacks.

Yes, years ago there was an hilarious TV show called Krek Bristle.

I seem to remember it featured Andrew Sachs who played Manuel in Fawlty Towers.

My favourite was "wine chew packet tin" translated as Why don't you pack it in"

Probably on the women's team...

Wow though, that's quite an assortment.

I remember that, shame the Count's Louse has been renamed City Hall.

My Mum's still got a copy.  Used to be my Grandmas.  Loved it as a kid.

Random meet with some City fans in a pub in Wimbledon. By the end of the night we had the whole pub joining in with Wurzel songs. Top night.

Doesn't matter where they come from so long as when they pull on a red shirt for City or a navy blue one for Bris, that they give 100% every time.

Of course yeah, I just thought Bris were a little tinpot is all? I'd have assumed there'd be mostly English players because they're not that large a team, they're only second division right now arent they? Maybe it's different for rugby.

I had forgotten where I bought my copy but yes it was the museum. I have a set of three by Dirk Robson - Krek waiter's peak Bristle, Eurekal Son of Bristle & Bristle rides again.

Think I'll have to have a read again.
