Good morrow fine gentlemens and maidens.

The MOTM curse has struck, the unbeaten run is over and Wickes have organised a BOGOF on Crown tins of matt emulsion...

Today is the 3rd premiership side we have faced this season and aim to be the first to actually give us a pasting as per the unwritten rule. Watford and Stoke both tried and failed. It's time for Palace to have a pop.

Crystal Palace is based in Croydon, a 'saff Landan' shithole and they are no novices to the Ashton Gate crowd. One of our most famous games included "that goal" and earned Mr Warnock his title as Colin and the second most hated opposition manager (after everyone's favourite sad gashead bastard)...

Warnock is no more and instead, current chief in town is City and England reject Roy Hodgson. After only taking the reins a month ago, he is still bedding down and trying to salvage something from Palace's worst start in the Prem for years, so chances are Roy will be resting key players like Sakho and Zaha and instead will be playing fringe 1st team players and reserves... that old adage "concentrate on the league" will be heard from LJ or Roy tonight I can guarantee. Palace can't be all that bad though as that bought Bolasie off us and flogged him high, giving us a nice little bonus which is always helpful.

A short and sweet one today for me folks. Which is also how I feel the game will go. With Korey and Bakes out til Saturday - unless Pisano gets a shout, move Bails back to CB and shove as much Burger King down Patto's throat and chuck him on the pitch - I feel our cup run will come to an end this evening.

Head says loss. Heart says draw and anyone's guess on pens (FRANKIE GOAL GIF???) Also don't forget it's ABBA... On this note, I will leave you with the words of gashead superfan Mark Watkins.

Good night and come on you Reds.

P.s. Snakes don't have noses...

Taking my girlfriend for her first game. Hope the lads don't put her off for life!

A close 2-1 win to City for me.

Will be listening as always,  although full time is passed my usual bedtime, being an old man.  Hoping for a clear win, obviously,  but it will all depend on LJ's team selection and which team wants it more than the other, hopefully Woy will be more concerned with Prem survival than a place in the final and put out a lot of reserves.  Still I expect a hard game and a win or loss by the odd goal, hope it doesn't go to penalties as that will mean a later night for me. Speak to you all later,  a 21.45 KO here.  COYR's!!!!!!!!

Was stood on Parson Street with this bloke who'd obviously taken his girlfriend to the Leeds game, and she claimed that the only thing she'd learned is that "City are shit". They learn quick now eh.

Who scores and what times?

Arnold Garita scores a double perfect hat-trick, and then the Atyeo statue comes on as a sub for Bobby and scores an overhead kick so impressive the ref awards us 2 goals.

She's a fan of Bristol Rugby and she's going out with me so she's already primed for disappointment .

True story: I once worked with a bloke called Cecil Pitt.

We never abbreviated his forename.

Ah balls.

No longer going to the game tonight.

Volunteering at FEAR Avon Valley (**** it, may as well plug it while I'm here). It's a Halloween event with a handful of horror mazes. One of them has been kept so secret that I've been volunteering down there for a couple of weeks and have no idea what the maze is like.

If anyone goes to it at any point, feel free to send me a PM and I'll try and get 5 mins off to buy you a pint if I'm there

Me and 19000 others are busy until around 10pm tonight, if we win I'm sure we could all pop on down to take you up on your very kind offer.

If you work in Carabao's marketing department, I have to tell you that I can't see that working in an advert for the product.

Don't know how other people feel but tonight means a lot to me. I have never seen us reach the latter stages of a major competition (89 was just before my time) and it's something I've always wanted to experience. Hope we see the strongest possible side and go all out for the win. If we get knocked out and people start saying "never mind, It's only the league cup" I may get a little grumpy.. just to pre–warn you all! ;)

Posted

Yeah, come on city! A quarter-final of a main competition is unheard of for us.

In the likely event of achieving neither promotion or relegation this season, this should arguably be a priority!

2-1 City my prediction, but not if we play like Saturday.

I reckon we'll see the side that actually got us this far, so maybe not what most would consider our strongest side

If relegation is now an achievement then suddenly the Bristol Sport museum makes more sense.

Looked like the ringpiece of Surrey, last time that I had the "honour" to pass through. Mind you, I'd rather pass through Beelzebub's jap eye, than that stagnant midden.

Gutted that family commitments mean I can't make it to this game. I was hoping to get a ticket for the upper tier in the Landsdown Stand as well to try it out. Oh well.

I've got a feeling we're going to win tonight.

Do not want to be picky, but they are fromSouth Norwood, not Croydon, i work in Crystal Palace, where the athletics ground is, and we still get the occasional away fan turn up bemused as to where the crowd are..

If Townsend is played on the left tonight he will tare that Wright a new one-he has pace to burn and will fill 'ees boots v such a pedestrian full back.

If so would place Brownhill in front of Wright as insurance.

Does he often play on the left..?

Probably is 5-3-2 but could easily be 4-4-2 with Bryan wide left and Mags at LB.

Having said that I expect it will be 3 in the middle at Barkinson will get at least 30mins. That will give him extra support playing in a 3. I hope Đurić gets at least 30mins too.

Funnily enough, I worked there myself till a few years back. I used to keep the directions written down for them in my wallet when they turn up. Lots of mopeds learning the knowledge too.

Looks like city will play 5-3-2/3-5-2 whatever you want to refer to it as.

COD in a central role

Looks like 442 to me with Pisano and Magnussen as full backs

That is a good shout! Thinking about it I doubt LJ wants to steer away from the 4-4-2 plan

Looks like a reasonable team given the injuries, shame Patterson isn't back yet.  Interesting to see what Magnússon can do at full back and good to see Pisano back in and Steele getting a go.

I've a feeling if Steele plays well he could get a shot in the league.

Got my link working and hoping for a good stream on Cricfree,  although I keep the RB commentary on which makes the Cricfree stream around one minute behind.  That way I always know if a goal comes before I see it.   I predict a very hard game and a single goal winning this, just hope it's City's goal.   COYR's

I make that ten changes from Saturday.. No Townsend, no Zaha, no Benteke. Come on City, we will never have a better chance to reach the quarter finals! Let's seize this opportunity.
