Our policy of recruiting young players and developing them is a tricky one. We do need a couple of talented older heads in the team. It wouldn’t be useful if they could also “boss” the field. Since I’ve ever watched City (1982-3 was my debut season) very rarely have we had a dominant midfield. Were still short of a CM, a striker, a right back a left back and a keeper. and last of all, I think the players got caught up in the hubris that we were going up. You point out where you think we need to recruit and them say 'we are still short of the prem (thank god) - which we clearly are. Surely if you don't want promoted everything is rosy? Clearly not going down so safe for next season. My point is however, is this the level of our ambition - safe in the the Championship currently and not looking to progress any further?
