marmite
Heard him on Points West last night saying they, (Bristol Rugby) targeted promotion because they knew they could and should win the Championship this season. Quite the opposite of what MA said about the football when he said we were not targeting promotion this year. Maybe SL now thinks that the rugby club could be an easier option to keep in the top flight than the football club. He is probably right too! I should add that I am grateful for all SL has done for BCFC over the years but maybe the fact that promotion is just a forlorn hope is beginning to dawn on him. Clevedon Red
The big difference is in rugby Bristol were a big fish in a little pond whereas we are the opposite.

Quite, it’s not comparing apples with apples. Would have been unthinkable for Bris not to be promoted.
Alex_BCFC
He wants both to suceed. As other posters have said, the two aren't comparable.

And in absolute terms the rugby dream of keeping Bristol in the Premiership is going to cost a lot less than getting us there. But City *ought* to be able to make a trading profit if we should ever get to the Premier League while Bristol aren't ever likely to do the same in the Premiership.
