Tinmans Love Child
Just heard on soccer Saturday that all 11 players starting for Crewe today are homegrown and came through the academy! Fair play to Crewe, I’d love us to have a strategy to bring through as many players as possible, instead of wasting time with dodgy loan players and expensive signings who will never play! ZiderEyed
Brilliant, well done Crewe. Always had a good academy but a full 11 is really, really impressive.

Yep always admired how they developed their own some of whom went onto play at a high level. however I can’t but feel it is a little tainted now after the Barry Bennel scandal
Major Isewater
In reality it was necessary for survival. Crewe were always terrible until they started to bring through their own players under Irishman Dari O'Gradi . No one player of any consequence would have wanted to join them so they were proactive. Well done to Alex.
DaveF
Pretty sure they fielded a team of academy graduates at the end of last season as well?
Northern Red
Sure Middlesbrough did it a few years ago?
formerly known as ivan
Thought Crewe had done this before a couple of years ago?

I don’t think it’s completely obvious at all when webring in players like Kent, Diony, Woodrow instead of promoting even more younger players and giving them the chance, we do ok but not as much as we could
