Bournemouth the latest side to face FFP fine.

A bit of a farce really, Leicester, QPR, Bournemouth and Brighton all broke the rules to get promoted, which as we all know is ridiculously lucrative and as a punishment they get a tiny slap on the wrist with a fine (under £5m in this case).

It's no wonder sides like Forest and Boro are splashing the cash when they know they can get away with it. At what point will they implement some kind of serious punishment? Because if they don't more and more clubs will just spend money for fun

they've changed it so it heavy fines, Transfer embargo and even talk of points deductions now, which is why Villa, Derby and Wednesday are all getting rid of good players so they avoid the FFP sanctions,

Bournmouth can only be punished on what the rules were at the time,

Are the clubs that missed out on promotion/play-offs that year due to Bournemouth accidentally overspending by thirty-odd-million going to be compensated? It really is pathetic punishment, they knew exactly what they were doing yet the FA have concluded "there was no deliberate attempt to break the rules" - do me a favour! Bizarrely the £4.7m fine is split 50/50 between the EFL and the Premier League as well, shouldn't it all be going to the EFL?? It was their rules that they broke.

The EFL can't deduct points from B'mouth as they're in the Premier League!

I would be exceptionally surprised if any punishments bar a fine are implemented - FFP is ultimately two things,

1. A vehicle for the football authorities to 'feel' they have an element of control.

2. A revenue generator

Villa are potentially getting rid of players because they are struggling for cash, nothing to do with FFP.

There of talk of Derby selling Vydra but so far they haven't moved anyone on bar our new signing. Anyone they sell is likely to be because the new manager doesn't fancy them.

It was also announced yesterday that PSG have no case to answer re FFP, despite spending £400m on 2 players last summer. That tells you all you need to know.

True, but they could if they ever got relegated just like they did with QPR, oh wait a minute..............

I never said they could, I was pointing out what the punishment is now compared to when Bournmouth breached it,

what the EFL can do is refuse them entry to the league if they got relegated but the likelyhood of that happening is next to zero

Is the thing.

The EFL can now:

  • Give a hefty fine based on the amount it's breached by etc- that's for staying down.
  • Transfer embargoes.

We knew that already though- these teams slipping through was why it changed.

Namely:

  • Points can be docked.
  • Demotion from automatic to playoffs, or playoffs to out thge top 6 or even automatic to out of top 6 altogether! May depend on the size of breach, whether it was in good faith or taking the piss etc.

This will be done via projected accounts.

So yeah, the EFL can do a lot if- and I stress IF- there are breaches and they are enforced correctly.
