He was the chap in the middle of the defence, the two Gordons (Parr and Low) either side of him: he used to wear a number 5 on his shirt.

And according to the Northern Echo, he's also grown an inch since he moved north. They're claiming he's 6'6" after being widely quoted as 6'5" when he was with us. He's probably got three balls now as well. This season gets worse by the minute.
PHILINFRANCE
Another one who sticks in my memory is Dicky Rooks; he was only here for a few seasons in the late 60s/early 70s, but his commitment and unruly mop of blond hair remain vivid memories. RedRock
While our ‘Norm’ was absolute class, watching Flinty grow season by season from ‘Bambi on Ice’ to as a complete a centre-back as were ever likely to have was an absolute pleasure. A real all-rounder and true warrior. Disciplined, driven and consistent. Maybe now, some of the people who slagged him off might just start recognising his true value. Well done Flinty and thanks for the memories big guy. One of the few who has measured up to the Club’s mantra of continuous improvement in pursuit of excellence. For me, Flinty gets the crown.
