Maenpaa over O'Leary?

I would’ve picked Niki yesterday.  Max not at fault last week imho, but Niki is our current #1, and off the back of two defeats I thought it was the correct decision.  Max has shown he is capable at this level, and may as a result become first choice quicker than we expect.  It may ultimately affect contract decisions on Niki and Frank as well as any January moves for Steffen or Heaton  (guesswork).

Anyone able to enlighten me what he did that O'Leary would not have done.

Why drop Max?

What are you talking about..?!

Max only ever played because Frankie & Nikki we’re out.

The second either of them were back, they were always going to be back in.

Max did ok. He’s still got a long way to go before he’s first choice at any club anywhere near this level of football.

The problem is with being a goalkeeper is that it's to much of a critical position to take a risk with. Playing a young goalkeeper is worlds apart from playing a young midfielder. Primarily because the consequences of mistakes/poor performance are far greater. On that basis I think you've always got to play the best goalkeeper you have available and in most cases that'll be your most experienced keeper.

Another loan spell for Max at a football league club is the next step IMO
