Lrrr
It's what happens when the league gives you enough money to not need to worry about ticket income, some teams charging 39 quid in the champ is hardly unheard of
Mr Popodopolous
On paper the tickets should be a lot lower than £39- when there's a cap of £30 in PL. That said, the TV revenue you just cannot compare-- the Championship is as per Kieran Maguire 'The Wild West of football finance'. Cost of wages especially and at times fees have shot up...without commensurate rises in TV or commercial revenue to compensate. Even with these high prices, most teams are losing cash at this level so the division as a whole have a choice to make...accept a cut in fees and wages paid or try to scramble to make up the shortfall through any way possible- i.e. ticket prices. Exampole- in 2016/17, Wages as an average at this level- that's before any other football or non football related costs- were 101% of turnover. Half of the Premier league teams don’t rely on ticket sales to make a profit. Of course it tends to go wrong when they spend a fortune on over rated players and get relegated https://www.aol.co.uk/sport/2018/08/14/half-of-premier-league-clubs-would-be-in-profit/?guccounter=
Hampshire Red
I doubt anyone on here could write a business or finance plan, model or case for ticketing prices in our 2nd tier. I certainly couldn't The acid test will be when tv cameras and fans regularly see half empty stadia with virtually no atmosphere. Then people will really complain buy all too late:just ask Bolton,Blackburn,Wigan, Rotherham, 'Ipswich, to name but a few and (except on rare derby days) they would all prefer twice the crowd paying half the ticket cost.
