City, Derby and Villa are fighting for 5 and 6 place. We have Villa away and Derby home, this is a real thriller. Thriller in Manila, Ali vs Frazier best boxning fight ever. But this is football, he he. Always believe, COYR!!!

It's a bit more like Audley Harrison at times but yeah lets slug it out!

I think the problem is that other than us, their next two games are Rotherham and Bolton. You’d have to expect six points from those two and that should be enough, even if they don’t beat us, to put them in a very strong position with three to go

They also have Leeds and Norwich as their last two games..

Unfortunately Villa have that extra ingredient which is vital at times like this.......a lethal goal scorer.

Personally I think we will squeak into 6th which will mean Leeds in the play off S/F. Wouldn't it be great to put the spying, cheating, barstewards out.

Derby always seem to be involved in the playoffs, so have the experience. In our favour is that they seem to fail every time, so will nerves get to them? As for us,  we have relatively little playoff experience, so maybe skim under the radar on a wing and a prayer and snatch the final place.

Personally I think we will just miss out, my head says so but my heart is still excited.

This what I feel as well. But to be honest even though I would love City to be in the Prem. Unless we chuck a shed load of money at the team I think it will be a season of hoping for a draw in games. I’ve a lot of friends who are Cardiff ST holders (even my gashead  step father now he has lived in Cardiff for past 8 years) who all go to the games not expecting anything other than not getting hammered by the top 6/7 teams.

I hate the fact in the Prem you could be watching a game between either Friday - Monday at the beginning then Thursday to Tuesday at later stages. I’m an old traditionalist who thinks football should be Saturday 3pm apart from one game Sunday for the arm chair fans.

I love the Championship though, it’s a league of anyone can beat anyone and full of roller coaster games.

Looking at the table and the fixtures it is very much a three horse race for 6th between us, Boro and Derby

Weird isn't it that all three teams have had a recent crisis of confidence!

Boro are still deep in a rut. City and Derby clambering out of one.

Our game v Derby is as 6 pointery as it gets, and every win now will feel immense.

I know Villa have had a decent run but just saw their highlights and Wednesday could have been out of sight by HT.They are up there but still have that dodgy game in them.

Of all the teams in and around the play off picture Villa have the momentum and at this stage of the season that could be priceless.

It's a bit like us at the start of the year, when we were on our winning run. We had a dodgy game in us then, but there became almost an inevitability about us winning, even when we didn't play well. They have possibly the best quality squad of the play off chasers and with the confidence their current run must be giving them they will be tough to beat. If they continue as they are till the end of the season, I would back them to win the play offs.

It would be a crying shame if they were undone by an ffp points deduction.  :)

Wigan's last minute equaliser makes a huge difference. Without it, as it currently stand, we could lose to Derby and they would still be a point behind. As it is they would leapfrog us with a win. Perversely a part of me would feel more confident if we go into the game behind Derby and needing the win.

It's astounding that at this stage of the season, with so much at stake, so many fans would feel more confident about or chances if we were playing away from Ashton Gate!

The dynamic of the table changes after every round of results. Such a shame we lost those 2 points yesterday. Middlesbrough have enough quality that they could in theory turn around their results at anytime,

I have the impression that Boro are a club in disarray.

They are not united enough to come through the necessary fights to win through to the play offs .

Derby will have doubts in their mind just like City and I think it will come down to us or them for the last play off place.

Strap yourselves in we’re in for a bumpy ride.

I think it will go down to the last nerve wracking day which in itself would be a fantastic reflection on the club .

Is your production team geared up for double shifts, as I think sales of you SBO could go through the roof in the next few weeks?

Derby have a tough run in of their own. On paper perhaps not but then...

Blackburn away. Good home record, quite compact and have taken points off a number of top sides.

Birmingham away- Still in a relegation scrap, just- don't lose at home so often. Siege mentality? Draw maybe.

Swansea away- Pressure off a bit, outside playoff chances plus beat Brentford 3-0 and Middlesbrough 3-1 this week. Who is sure Derby will win there?

Their away record isn't too clever either. Plus the crunch game with us and they play West Brom at home last game of season.

Well Boro have got Bolton away in midweek in a battle of the crisis clubs. If they don't win that you've got to seriously doubt they've got it in them.

Hmmm...I actually disagree with you there.

Before playing us Derby have...

Blackburn away - Rovers have lost 9 of last 11!

Bolton home - Bolton lost 6 of last 8 and not getting paid!

Birmingham away - Brum did well y'day but lost 5 of last 6.

QPR home - Rangers lost 4 of last 6.

I mean these are teams that specialise in losing!

I know all ganes in this league are tough but if you could handpick fixtures you'd pick something like Derby's!

I didn't include QPR and Bolton as I have taken it as a given that Derby win these 2.

Blackburn's home record is quite solid.

Birmingham's home record is reasonable. Birmingham have beaten Leeds and drawn with Norwich at home, drawn with West Brom at home and a siege mentality because of 9 points, still fighting a bit against the drop. Draw maybe?

Blackburn have beaten Leeds, beaten West Brom at home. Their home record alright in the main- draw maybe?

What is Derby's away record like? Get the feeling it isn't too great. Away to counterattacking sides, I think they have struggled at times.

I think Mr P is applying the Bristol City test to Derby's game, i.e. a team with poor current form becomes a tough game for Bristol City.

Haha maybe.

No though, underlying numbers suggest it definitely wouldn't be some easy 7-9 points for Derby from those 3.

From now to the end of the season I can't see that any game will be easy for the teams in and around us. I reckon it's not the opposition that makes a game difficult, it's how the team in question copes with the pressure and that's what worries me most about us , and in particular our remaining home games.

For whatever reason, the team seems to struggle with the pressure of playing at Ashton Gate, although the glimmer of hope is that we tend to perform better against better teams, so West Brom and Derby , who tough, might be better for us than games against teams like Wigan.

I agree with most of it, though we underestimate struggling or close to the drop sides at our peril. (QPR aside, they're terrible).

Good point though- when Wigan got those early free kicks and we were struggling a bit I remember thinking 'Play the game, not the occasion'.

Wonder if it got to us at times yesterday.

I agree, an easier run in by far.

Our home game against them and the games in hand (Millwall v City & Swansea v Derby) will settle it.

If (very big if) we can beat WBA, and Derby fail to beat Blackburn away on Tuesday that would be a massive boost..

Nice to be involved.

I feel today was a big blow mentally. We're still in it and fighting but had we held on or Wright made it 3-1 as perhaps he should when everything was with one- 2nd comeback win in a great week would have really bolstered confidence!

Especially with those other results going our way. Usually an optimist and always thought Wigan would be tricky but 2 points dropped. I predicted 2-1 us...almost. :(

One trivial question - why were there 5 mins injury time.

2 second half goals (not inc equaliser) = 2 x 30 = 1 min

2 sets of 3 man subs = 2 x 30 =1 min (not 6 subs)

bit of GK injury time.

Think Prowse forgot that there were only two sets of subs.

None of this matters just so long as we match FL’s Derby and the chasing group .

It’s ours to throw away.

Could argue 1 minute per set of 3 subs, but 5 minutes a seemed high!

Prowse the 4th official?

Yeah, knew when I posted, he doesn’t decide the time added on.  I thought he ref’d It ok yesterday....far worse than him this season.
