Former City Player To Become Referee

Seems a good plan to try get former players to stay in the game. The only other routes are coaching and media otherwise and there are only so many spots to do that, whereas I imagine the pool of referees around the country could do with a boost.

Interesting to see it takes non-players about 16-20 years to make it to the top though, and there's a body fat limit too. Never thought about that being an actual stated requirement.

It doesnt take 20 years to make it to the top it did in the 90s. Not only that they'll all give up within 5 years because they will be doing grass roots football on  a crappy pitch no showers etc and they wont like that. Itll be 5 years before they grt to a have decent level and by then itll be too much.
