Taylor Moore A Rock Today!

Recommended Posts

One nervous moment in each half, but apart from that he was imperious, showed real strength muscling the hull forwards, great passing range 40 yards plus WITH EITHER FOOT and also did well when bringing the ball forward into midfield.

Is this the Taylor Moore that loads of posters wrote off without seeing play for two years?

You are absolutely nailed on  for these type of posts

I think quite a few fans pre-judged a lot of the young players we bought 2/3 seasons ago because they were sceptical about the club's strategy in buying players "for the future". Unfortunately high profile examples like Engval only reinforced those opinions, and I wonder if it meant that all of that type of player was tarred with the same brush.

It's one thing to scout a player like Nagy or Massengo and see the ability that is already being shown, but it must be a tough task to scout a young player, who is not the finished article, but to judge where you think they can be in a couple of years time, and what needs to be done to realise that potential i.e. loans.

At the moment TM looks like being worth £20m to the club, because he appears to have stepped into the shoes of the man he's replaced. If his progress continues it will more than justify, and over the costs,  of the policy of buying "ones for the future".

The boy is grabbing his chance and how!

Read nothing else, haven’t seen highlights but I’m so happy to see and hear this. There was a bit of stick for him after Leeds and I am so glad he’s performing and getting recognition

It might be too soon and it might be OTT for now but if we have a ready made replacement for Webster then that is great business by club

Exactly. It was a bit of a culture shock to some that we were dropping 7 figures on young players - when only 10 years ago these fees would've broken our transfer record. I think a few of our fans didn't realise how our club and football in general, particularly in a financial sense, had moved on.

We hadn't really had a strategy like that before - buying young players with a view to them being first team players in 2/3 seasons. Previously, young players had either been academy products or Prem youngsters on loan.

As you say - the Engvall situation reinforced the negative opinion on the strategy. Reality is that not every single one will work, just how it is. If we get more right than wrong, and ultimately turn a profit, it vindicates the strategy.

You are that annoying work colleague who snipes away in the background making digs.  You know the type, the one everyone in the office hates, but never tells them.

It's not often I attack a poster but you are possible the worst person I have ever witnessed posting on a forum, and there have been some belters in the past.

As i have pointed out several time in the past, those in glass houses should not cast stones..  And you, sonny Jim are the exact type of person that saying sums up

I agree completely, however we have only just extended this kids contract so I'm not sure we actually knew how good he is/could be. We were out there looking for replacement for Webster and we saved ourselves 10m by default and a bit of luck I reckon.

Either way. His contract will be getting a second extension if this carries on until Christmas that is for sure!

Really???thought he was one of the better players versus Leeds. Good to see him grabbing his chance at the moment but you can guarantee when he makes a mistake that costs us a goal he will be ******* useless again

WOW. A Nice little thread about a player who we have brought through and has his latest great game for us hijacked by utter worthless tosh!

For the record I had TRL and RedDave on ignore years ago exactly for this reason.

We all get upset about our team and show a bit of passion at times  but this is not that, its just a couple of blokes (I guess) giving it some while annoying other people and derailing a thread, that is as uncontroversial as it gets.

Please everyone stop quoting them then I don't have to read it or feel inclined to hit the 'read this post only' button!

Taylor Moore, for me is another example of the way a young players’ development isn’t always a simple and obvious path.

Not only that, he is one of a few players who, despite the influx of new players into the club, in their position, are upping their game and fighting their way into the first 11. Great to have that competition in the squad and a very positive sign.

Who would have believed anyone who’d have predicted us in 4th with Baker and Moore as 2 key factors at this stage?!

Rather like Bobby Reid. In both cases plenty would have been happy to get rid but players develop at different rates and/or can take time to find their niche.

Credit to LJ for sticking with both because he had faith in their ability and attitude.

Anyway back to Moore. Really pleased for the lad, done his apprenticeship in the lower leagues, has had some hard times in the last two years, but kept working hard, kept faith in his own ability now coming to fruition.

Early days but looks like he could end up another class player.

It's a bit frightening now the amount of young talent we have.

Full credit to Taylor Moore for adapting very well to life at the top of the Championship, but just playing Devil's advocate, would he have been a regular this season if Webster hadn't been sold?

Yes, it's early days and form can change like the wind, but us selling Webster has possibly saved TM's career at City.

Of course, it's not just down to the sale of Webster, it's also the hard work and impressive dedication TM has shown over the past few years.

There were times when he was being shipped out on loan that I honestly felt sad for the guy.  Is that what we told him when we signed him from Lens, you won't play properly for City for 3 years?

Hope he has a fantastic season with the club, and doesn't lose his place to Williams.  I'd be furious if that happens.

Southend fan here - so pleased to hear that Taylor is doing well .   He was great for us and seemed a really nice guy - his celebrations when we managed to stay up in the last few minutes of last season showed how much he cared for the team he is part of.    Hope that his (and your) good form continues.    With five defeats for us this season how I wish he was still with us.

Cracking advert for the 'pathway' isn't he? A couple of years experience at a lower level and now we're seeing the potential we purchased a few years ago.

Well done City and well done Taylor Moore. Keep up these level of performances and we'll be fending off bids for a CH, again!

I look at the title of this thread and see 2 pages about Taylor Moors, I'm thinking that's really good that everyone is being positive about a young player that's broke into the team. Only to find out as usual its a slanging match between our own fans. This is why this forum is shite!! We won ffs we should all just be happy!! ?

Some proper nasty people on this forum. Shame. Red dave just pointing out people were so wrong about Moore. And I think based on very little or no evidence, unless they were all watching Southend games. Still too early to say for sure but at 22 and playing so well, it would seem he will be a good championship defender minimum, possibly even Prem if he keeps improving.

Last season Southend fans loved him in a poor Southend side, which makes it even harder to look good in. There was a clear sign of progress from Cheltenham to Southend. And going on all the comments all season from Southend fans, I thought he had a great chance of making it with us, but didn't expect it to be this season necessarily.

He so far might be wrong about Bentley. I was concerned about the signing too as Brentford fans mainly didn't rate him and he made so many horrendous errors, I was worried we had bought a goalie who would carry on as he was at Brentford. Excellent last few games and got a nice problem in that position with Niki coming back.

I do find it interesting that young players have been and still are so often talked about by fans on here as not good enough at this level and won't be. When in fact they're 21 at the time and years away from their prime.

I actually said similar when I started a thread joking that apparently Moore found his level at Cheltenham in league two, then found his level in league one. Would have been harsh if people had a go and called me names, and no one did. It's an interesting point Red Dave makes. Very childish to call him names.

I feel so pleased for him, I really do, because he’s had to do it the hard way for us.

Within half an hour of the Leeds game I thought he looked a completely different player to what we’d seen before, despite people pouncing on him for a couple of poor mistakes.

He’s not perfect - and neither was Adam Webster, by the way - but he seems to be learning quickly and you can’t ask for more than that.

If he keeps improving, with his very obvious leadership qualities and demeanour, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this time next year he was Bristol City captain.
