Yeah this. No matter what happens there’ll always be a club that will carry on the fight, nicknamed the Robins, in Red and White, wether it be up the Downs or wherever. I’ll be there.

Having lived the nightmare in 82, I'd still be in my period of mourning now.

funny is it not - we were "that" club - I still have the framed original shares I bought - worth nothing but the club survived - just

I'd still watch football, but it just wouldn't be the same. I would struggle to share in the joy of an underdog winning and still be ambivalent towards any British team in Europe.

Probably go and watch a Phoenix side, but I think that wouldn't be a day one interest.

Support another club, no chance; I'd go on a murder spree, assassinate everyone who was involved in the diabolical failings of City - especially considering how healthy everything is now - and then I'd spend the rest of my time living under a new identity in Hawaii.

I'd also keep an eye on the rebirth of the new BCFC.

I may follow a team but I don't feel I could support any other team if you can understand the difference.

It is funny because I have been trying to recall how 1982 affected me. I think I just didn't face upto it at the time and didn't realise the severity of it all. It has also made me feel very fortunate to have SL and even more so that his son has been brought up a fan.

I'd jump in the nearest minibus, off to watch a day of football, and support that team.  What could possibly go wrong?

You could find yourself being driven to Wembley by a city fan in a bus full of Gas?

(Sorry. It was just too obvious).

Might give Forest Green a little watch.

Me too. Would never ever be able to replace the only club I've (1964 to present day) supported but as FG are just up the road

from me and I remember when they were in the Stroud League then that's the only alternative for me.

Golf ? :gaah:I'll stick to taking the dog for a walk.

Exactly this.  It's a nice thought exercise - the standard response to which is watching your local non-league club instead - but any club with a decent support will always exist.

Bury for example hasn't "died"; Bury 2019 FC will be back in non-league next season and back in the League proper in a decade.

Even Gretna - a tiny borders club propelled briefly to the Scottish Premier League on one man's money and that was liquidated August 2008 was replaced by Gretna 2008 in July 2008.

Successor club

The Gretna Supporters Society, (a Supporters' trust) formed a new club, Gretna 2008 on 2 July 2008 and applied to join both the East of Scotland Football League and the South of Scotland Football League.[31] They were accepted into the East of Scotland League, though they initially played their matches at the Everholm Stadium in Annan. The club returned to Raydale Park in May 2009 which it now leases from the Raydale Partnership, a community group of which Gretna Supporters Society is a member.[32]

Of course, we could all go to the rugby.

Section82 could rebrand as SectionABCDEFGHIJKLMNO as a reference to the bygone days of player identification.

Showing your vintage there Rob WTGR. Wasn't it Bris and Leicester who were the last to change to numbers in the mid 80's?

I remember going to the John Player final v Leicester in 1984 (?) when the Bris players linked arms and their shirts spelt 'UP BRISTOL'. A long time ago now and a totally different game.

I guess if we ever did fold (god forbid) we would have to start again in tier 7, which is where I believe Bury will have to start from. In our case, the Southern league along with this lot. It makes you feel for the Bury support I suppose. Imagine the clamour for away tickets?

Guest Sturman 1

I'd relive all of OTIB's classics..... and cast a eye on the phoenix club however it just wouldn't replicate the feeling I get on a match day down Ashton Gate.

The club would start again in the lower leagues. Just as with any other club. They never die, they just start up again and the supporters muck in and they quickly elevate. You only have to look at the rise of Newport County. They were truly finished and playing in a park in Moreton-In-Marsh and 25 years later they were back in the Football League.

I go to watch Worthing often now, it’s fun but not the same.  I don’t have the emotion.  Rather weirdly, even at that level, watching the match I’ve learnt far more about the ‘game’ than in all the years of chewing my nails and flailing my limbs at City matches. So different when you’re a step removed.

Phoenix club for me if it came to it.
