North London Red Posted September 8, 2019 Report Share Posted September 8, 2019 I’ve met fans of loads of clubs on my England travels and for fans of clubs who have moved ground in the last 25 years, I am still yet to meet a single one who genuinely prefers their new ground over their old one. Once the old ground is gone, it’s gone forever. It might just be nostalgia playing its part (and it has to be acknowledged that stadium moves have enabled many clubs to progress to levels they might not have reached if they hadn’t moved - Swansea are probably a good case in point), but from my experience fans of clubs that have moved have tended to prefer the matchday experience at their original ground over their new one.
