All very odd. ..

Manchester City are yet to agree compensation with Arsenal that would allow the Gunners to name Mikel Arteta as their new manager.

Arsenal are finalising the paperwork for City's assistant manager, 37, to replace Unai Emery.

Arteta was at Oxford on Wednesday night for City's Carabao Cup quarter-final but it is expected Arsenal will be able to appoint him later this week.

However, City are growing increasingly agitated by Arsenal's conduct.

It is understood there has still not been formal contact between the clubs, with a seven-figure release clause yet to be agreed.

Arteta has kept Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola fully informed of the situation.

A Manchester City source said: "It's surprising to hear that plans are being made by Arsenal to unveil our coach as their head coach on Friday on the basis that no contact has been made by the club to discuss this matter."

Speaking after City's 3-1 win over Oxford United, Guardiola said: "This season he's [Arteta] been with us, we prepare the game as best as possible, before and during.

"I don't have any comment, there is no news. Yesterday I had 48 questions about Mikel, when there's news I will answer it but there's no news.

"I answer the questions, I don't answer any more."

Apparently in talks with Man City’s Arteta without having any contact with them.

Firstly , I thought that was against the rules and secondly they have been as classy over this as they were for our Nketiah deal .

Been thinking exactly the same & after the Nketiah debacle I said I would think twice about dealing with Arsenal again (if the opportunity arose) & nothing they’ve done since has made think differently.

The morals of that club seem to of disappeared when Wenger left & now respect seems to be a thing of the past for them.

This should be a thread about their appalling grovelling apology to the chinese people after Ozil's political statements.

Damn right. Thought Wenger would’ve been a bit more supportive but he now works for the body that gave you Russia 18 and Qatar 22, so sadly looks like he’s towing the party line.

Not sure what is happening with arsenal but in terms of class they have traditionally been one of the classiest clubs in the league...wenger while much maligned towards the end epitomised this, especially after the new stadium when he continued to do a fantastic job never complaining despite not being able to compete with the other big 4 due to the finances after the stadium.

something very wrong with that club at the moment which I personally find sad to see as have a big soft spot for them.

I’m not inside all of the detail of the Uighurs (sp?) treatment in the internment camps but it’ll all come to the fore at some point. What I’ve read thus far is nothing short of disgraceful. Maybe not whilst we can all buy £1 T-shirts in primark but at some point the world will have to take a stance.

All that "Arsenal:classy" thing went years ago. You replace the Old Etonian family that owned them for decades with shysters and cowboys from here there and anywhere and it is no great surprise that the club operates differently.

Arsenal are just another 21st century premier shyster league club now, out to make as much as they can from whoever they can take for a ride.
