Admin phantom Posted April 18, 2021 Admin Report Share Posted April 18, 2021 Disappointing performance this afternoon, City never looked like scoring, without Salmon on the pitch we have no threat up front

Looks like a regular WSL first team squad, and it's great to see Meaghan Sargeant back again! Game isn't being streamed anywhere, so I'll have to keep an eye out on Twitter... Turns out I needed to charge my phone while watching the Formula 1 this afternoon, so completely missed on all updates, including the fact that Brighton did have a stream of the game after all, but that this wasn't announced until during the game itself. Did hear about the penalty, and how disputed this was. Just seen the reaction from Matt Beard, who said that the game was even, but then the referee defined the game... Erithacus
If the West Ham/Villa game remains goalless, a draw would drop City to the bottom. Edited April 20, 2021 by Erithacus Beat me to it, Phantom!
shahanshahan
FT West Ham 0-0 Aston Villa. City now drop to bottom as Villa's point moves them up. Game against Villa on Saturday is going to be so important.

shahanshahan
City Women had a training session at Robins High Performance Centre. Not sure if a one-off, or if the team will be moving there soon from Stoke Gifford (next season, most likely). I'm hoping for the latter! Especially if the men's academy team, who were also at Stoke Gifford, are moving there. In a recent episode of The Ladies League, an Australian fan podcast which featured Ella Mastrantonio, she confirmed that the women were due to train in Failand where the men are, but because of Covid, teams still had to stay seperate
shahanshahan
Massive relegation battle/six pointer today! Villa (11th) v City (12th); KO 12:30pm, live on FA Player. Same starting XI from last Sunday against Brighton in the FA Cup. Meaghan Sargeant's first WSL game of the season. Laura Rafferty returns to bench after missing last game due to being on-loan from Brighton. Ellen Jones returns to bench; Izzy Cook & Maisy Collis dropped. I am nervous & excited in equal measure. nick jones of hereford
To come back from 0-2 down to draw with virtually the last play of the match suggests real character. We are still in with an outside chance of staying up. Well done!
cidercity1987
Definitely going down then looking at the remaining fixtures. Such an improvement in the second half of the season/maternity leave/Beard arriving but just couldn't find a crucial away win against teams around them

shahanshahan
Birmingham came back from 1-0 down to Villa tonight to equalise at the last minute. Arsenal beat West Ham 2-0. Bottom two in table still the same, but Villa now a point more than City. To happen two games on the bounce must hit confidence if they're hanging on in the next two games Table hasn't really changed, we'll still need to win at Brighton

cidercity1987
Win at Brighton to pretty much guarantee survival. Villa and West Ham play each other and the other game for the three strugglers are write offs (City Man Utd, West Ham Man City, Villa Arsenal)
shahanshahan
Probably just been treated as a strong rumour for now, but there is some consensus that after this season, Matt Beard will be appointed the new manager at his old club, Liverpool, who he won two WSL titles with. Personally, I'd rather he stay at City (and not have Tanya come back). Regardless if City get relegated or not, I'd be surprised if he were to head to the Championship, as I'd have thought he'd want to stay in the WSL. https://theathletic.com/news/liverpool-women-matt-beard/wYXmRug4oRDV
