Johnson reflects on missed opportunities

1- Opportunity missed -  LJ commented we got stretched well we all know why. Birmingham had a midfield that created chances and we were lack lustre.

2- Over Eager - well not sure what LJ was referring too as his comment was all smoke and mirrors to me and he’s hiding behind his poor decision on who should play and was relying on the team that played the last four games. “ no guts no glory” from me as he should have given the new signings a go.

3- Chances - LJ commented we had chances in the 75th and 80th minute. A bit too late then LJ as we gave too many to Birmingham before that with sloppy play.

4- Dissapointed - Well so were the other 20k City supporters at Ashton Gate and others of us around the world watching on Foxtel or sky.

5- Improvement - LJ stated he’s angry at some individuals. Well are those individuals being micro managed in to playing his game and not theirs ?

He should be angry at himself, changes should of been made at halftime.

The next problem is that he will clearly have to change things for the Derby game after that performance, but given that he has even more players to pick from, and the need to produce a team that actually performs at home for 90 minutes against decent opposition, the selection tombola will be out again, rather than deciding on tactics, selecting a formation, and picking appropriate players to fit that model.

We have to play 2 upfront, and play attacking football so go 4-2-2-2 like we did against West Brom last season. Spend the next 4 days getting Fam and Wells used to playing off each other, so as to make a proper frontline combination. Pick a forward looking and physical midfielder (Hendrickson) to complement Paterson playing through the lines. Leave Eliasson on the bench to be used as an impact substitution. Pair Nagy and Smith as the defensive midfield pair. Play the usual back 4 and keep Hunt and Dasilva as wing backs.

Will LJ do any book of this? Probably not...

Absolutely.

This is his fault. He’s built this from top to bottom. His players, his pattern of play, his tactics.

If he genuinely doesn’t sign the players (why on earth sign Nahki Wells?) then he needs to walk away.
