The Bard
I was struck by the difference between the last 2 games. The difference in energy, in aggression, in clarity of what they were doing. The manager used the week as an opportunity for self-promotion on Tv as usual, but what worried me was what was in the players' heads. It was clear who was leading the team last week and we looked better for it. Last night it was if the team leaders had been reigned in. That the team was trying to play to instructions but looked befuddled and lacking in energy. It didn't work. Overcoaching never works. Seems to me we play better when we have a run of games and less time is spent coaching. The Shankly quote springs to mind "football is simple game complicated by idiots"
