City oz
Streamed a movie last night called keeper. It’s a bit of a mix war/drama/football film. It was about Bert Trautmann a German held POW in the UK and after the war he stayed in the UK and was one of the best goal keepers ever to play for Man-City from the late 40s to the early 80s. The last 1/3rd of the film has some fantastic nostalgia football including the FA Cup Final between Man City & Birmingham City. 3-1 to MC where Trautmann played the last 20 minutes with a broken vertebrae in his neck. Probably not everyone’s cup of tea for a film but something different to watch when there’s not much else too do.

handsofclay
Just after the war Trautmann was requisitioned to work at a camp at Ashton Court. I believe it was where Eisenstrager was too. Trautmann either had a trial or expressed strong interest in having a trial for nearby Bristol City, but was told by the City coaching staff that they were well off for goalkeepers, so his services were declined. That's how close we got to signing a future European footballer of the year!
