It's nothing to do with not being taught to get their head/knee over the ball. It's composure in the match situation where i) it matters and ii) you have that split second less time to get your shot away than you do in training. They all have the basic technique when they aren't under pressure. So they need to learn to deal with the pressure not necessarily their technique. Exactly. The better players tend to be a bit "colder" in the pressure moments and don't panic............don't get too excited when the big chance comes your way, just do what comes naturally in training every day. A simple statement that is far more easily said than done for 99% of people though. You could argue that it is technique related in as far as when your head goes your technique goes with it!!! big dosser Posted December 10, 2020 Report Share Posted December 10, 2020 the main thing any striker will tell you is confidence, the more you miss the more it plays on your mind which then puts you under pressure in good situations. But once they start going in you feel you can score from anywhere. Football is about ability granted but you also must be in the right mindset.
