Please can we ditch the Head Coach title

While we are getting matters off our chests, please can we ditch the whole “Head Coach” crap. Bugger the “club structure”, we desperately need a manager.

And if you google football head coach, what do you get? A whole load of items on American Football and the NFL. Because strangely enough most football clubs have managers. But not Bristol City, because SL knows that our system is a superior and successful set-up.

Oh sorry that last bit’s not quite correct. It’s a superior set-up for the CEO and made MA very successful - well at least in terms of his salary.

Presumably a manager would “destroy all the good work” and did you know that Mark works very, very hard?

Exactly. A manager would have control over signings which Ashton won’t want, hence the Head Coach role.

All of the responsibility with none of the decision making.

I wouldn’t mind it quite so much if it were a proven successful model for running a football club, but I am unaware of any other club run in this way, certainly in English football.

It’s all a play on words.  The head coach is the manager. We have been told time and time again, that for example no player was ever signed who the HC did not want, the HC, CEO, Owner &  board  were one team.  It might not suit popular opinion here, but LJ agreed this was the case on many an interview during his tenure.
Likewise when it came to selling the assets, this was the case.
The days when the manager ruled over everything long gone.  The fact that between them they have truly f****d it up this season is neither here or there.

I beg to differ on the “no player was ever signed who the HC didn’t want”. Even from LJ’s time there were clearly some players that he knew little about before we signed them and liked even less once he had seen them in person, the standout being Engvall.
