Is Peterborough our real role model ?

The Posh , a yo-yo club between the Championship and third division.

One who buys cheap and  sells high .

Gives their supporters success with realism that they aren’t likely to reach the Prem.

Did SL hope that Deano would get us relegated from where we could be a success in the third division, potentially giving us a promotion season and another  tinpot trophy ?

Are we too small to bother the upper echelons of the football pyramid ?

Is the ‘ Posh’  model the way for the club to be successful and self sustaining ?

We talk about Brentford being the model but seem miles off that.

Bristol is a completely different proposition to Peterborough. We're a big city, we have a big catchment area and relative to our historic performance we have very good attendances. A decent benchmark for a club's support (that includes people who see City as a second team or 'have a soft spot for') is Wembley attendance. We'd sell 40k at Wembley (and probably more). That's a decent barometer for showing the potential 'size' of a club.

Of course SL didn't want relegation, that's just a silly idea. If he was content with that there's no way he'd have redeveloped AG or the training ground. There's also no way we'd have appointed a manager like Pearson.

Brentford are also a fairly small club really, just put a strategy in place and utilised it effectively. Being London based is also a huge advantage for attracting players.

Of course we aren't "too small" to be a Prem club. We've just historically underachieved. In terms of potential support size we could easily hold our own, especially if we became a steady Prem club. We're actually a bit of an outlier and in some ways unique in terms of our underachievement relative to City/potential club size. Cardiff are the only club I can think of who are relatively similar in that respect but they've been a Prem club unlike us.

I think we will get there eventually, within 5 years hopefully.
