I didn't think it was a penalty, I was in the Exeter end and it was right in front of me and it looked like the Exeter player backed right in. When the whistle went , the Exeter player turned away assuming it was against him. no hint of an appeal from him

, then he started laughing in Evans face when he realised he had got the penalty!

In all fairness Miah, when you come on here you are dealing with the world leaders of iffy penalty decisions!

You didn't think that a defender hauling a striker to the ground, with no attempt to play the ball, was a penalty...?

Like I said, The Exeter player just backed right into him, if someone forces you to fall backwards you hold your arms out.  That's how I saw it and from his reaction, the Exeter player knew exactly what he had done.

Win some lose some, we haven’t had a penalty since 1997

Miah. He had his arms around him as the Sky footage makes clear. If you are going to get that intimate with another man, he should have least bought him flowers first... ?

I still think it was a definite 'home' penalty , the Exeter players reaction, which is on camera and his subsequent piss taking(which isn't) swung it for me a bit maybe.

It was quite interesting being in the home end regarding refereeing decisions. I like to think I'm pretty fair minded while I watch a game, but for most decisions I seemed to be out of sync with those around me. Maybe we all have an inbuilt bias whether we think we have or not.

TBH I'd probably laugh if I was pulled off my feet in full view of the ref so that a team that was holding its own, conceded a stupid penalty. I can't see "the player laughed" as evidence of a wrong decision. The wrong decision was made by the Gas defender.

I do have a little sympathy with you Miah. I still remember Garth Crooks' beaming boat race towards us when he did the same thing at the Victoria Ground. Probably the last time we got a penalty.

Garth Crooks always had an annoyingly beaming boat race anyway!

If only it were that easy to get a penalty awarded..!

I don't do a lot of gambling, I play some slots, but sometimes I am drawn to slot machines. I use demo versions, I look at this site -  https://betpokies.co.nz/google-pay-casinos - these guys make good reviews!

I am sure that penalties on the field and penalties on TV are evaluated differently. Referees have their own view, don't they? But I don't rule out a home decision, although there is no evidence of that.

I think there are definitely decisions that can be influenced by various factors in a game, including the home crowd.  I'm not complaining btw, everyone can make a mistake, including the ref and that's just part of football, sometimes they go your way, sometimes they don't. I would much prefer it the way it is than have to attend games where VAR came into play, how anyone can think that has improved the game is beyond me.

Pretty clear anyone who supports City knows that bit just isn’t true.

Law of averages simply cannot explain how far of an outlier against all other clubs we are as far as penalties awarded is concerned.

1 awarded in well over our last 100 games isn’t “sometimes they go your way”.

Yes, the home crowd can make an impact, or the refs can go home afterwards :)
What makes you think VAR didn't improve the game? I know of many instances where the ref has changed his mind after watching VAR.

I make it 1 in 94 League games maybe, although would have to double check.

Definitely not yet 1 in 100 in all competitions, as we got 1 in Jan 2021 in the Cup at Millwall.

He  may well change his mind, I just don't think it has improved the game.

I had no idea how few penalties you get, mind you, I have no idea how many Rovers have got in the same period.

You had 4 awarded in the league last season, 7 in the season before, nothing remotely exceptional about that, as Swindon & Sutton in L2 both had 10.

Our record is statistically an outlier as to be completely beyond belief, in all 4 divisions the next team to us in terms of penalties awarded per minutes played (Port Vale) still average getting one in a third of the time that we do.

We are 600th out of the top 600 teams in Europe in terms of the longest period of time without a penalty and that stat is months old
