He's done as a much as he can there. They plateaued last season and have started to slowly decline this season. Everything about the club is sub-standard given their league status, they are falling behind a lot of other clubs in this aspect. He won't get any significant backing. I think he'll be off before the season is out.

Me too. He's got to leave them before he gets dragged deeper in their mess if he wants to go to another team on the back of his success of the past few seasons. But then again from our point of view let him stay as he's doing a perfect job

Up next, the bizarre situation of the next match in the Chucky Doll Trophy involving the blue few at home to the moonrakers. Now looking at the league table you'd think that if they draw the gas would go through on goal difference wouldn't you? Wrong!

  Team      Played           GD Pts
1 WHAM U-21s   2 2 0 0 6 3 3 6
2 Blue Few   2 1 0 1 6 4 2 3
3 Swindle   2 1 0 1 3 3 0 3
4 Team that gas tried sueing   2 0 0 2 1 6 -5 0

Group Matches will be of ninety minutes duration, with no extra time.

If the scores are level at the end of the group Match then each Club is awarded 1 point. In addition the Match will be followed immediately by the taking of kicks form the penalty mark (in accordance with the procedure laid down in the IFAB Laws of the Game) and the Club that wins the penalty shootout will be awarded an additional 1 point.

So if they draw it goes to a penalty shoot out for the extra point. Get it?

It could end in farce :gasmask:

From bradfordmeyerbriggs (http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/10985/mem-bod-etc-merged?page=36):

Quote

An infrastructure and team capable of competing long term in the Championship. - Short term - Yes, Long term - No. I think long term a move to a new stadium has to happen to enable Rovers to keep growing. No good having an 18,000 stadium when there are 45+ thousand Gasheads potentially who would support Rovers in the Premier League if the dream was to happen.

Just deluded...

In addition, looks like the fence contractor (who was always said to be a Gas fan) has finally got sick of the blue few slating him: http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/11042/put-facts-forward

He's even named the company now so is being pretty transparent, but as usual a number have their fingers in their ears.

Even WAQ agreed they've not been paid but said the invoice was being disputed - but let's face it lots of little payments really does look more like a struggling business than a dispute... :violin:

They can't be that unhappy with the work if they are making payment. Can only assume that full payment isn't forthcoming because they don't have the money.

Now, wasn't it a case some time back that UWE needed to see that Rovers had the cash to build a new stadium before work could start and the Sainsbury's money was to be held in some sort of account to demonstrate this?

Any other thoughts on why UWE might have gone belly up?

just read that and almost pissed myself,

I couldn't help laughing  at the guy who thinks that £40k is a lot of money to safely secure and fence in a piece of land large enough to create a training facility on,.. Presumably he expected a local company to do it for free out of the goodness of their hearts, just because they are the famous Bristol Rovers, or perhaps he is pricing it up on B&Q fence panels for his local garden?

It’s worth pointing out that the guy who posted that is the same fantasist who thought they’d take 2500-3000 to Notts County. :rofl2br:

Typical Gashead belter spouting nonsense.

I am amazed he thinks they will go ahead with a cat 2 academy at the colony. They will need several million for even a basic setup and then are looking at it listing them around a million a year. There is a reason so many clubs are going the route of just a under 23 team.

If they have money they first need to get that place leveled, the ground is simply not good enough for training on unless you want an endless stream of twisted knees and ankles. Then some buildings for at least domed basic needs. They need to move there soon so it will be interesting to see what does happen.

Rovers will never have a cat 2 academy - and I mean ever. They have:

Us, Southampton, West Brom ahead of them in this particular area to fight with... Who'd go to them

In 2016 the cost of running a Cat 2 academy was 1.5million a year.

Maybe Wally just likes the number 3 and by doubling their annual loss he'll sleep better.

Given the fact so few players make it to the first team, for a club like Rovers they would probably be better off getting released academy players from other clubs and building an u23 side.

Why on earth would SL want to buy the Memorial Ground (I think you need four permanent sides to call it a stadium) It would be like a Rolls Royce owner asked to buy a Trabant.

Affordable housing

Decent sized plot
