I did an analysis of our throwins v Millwall last season, and Thomas replied to my tweet and gave me some links to some of his analysis stuff for free.

We have been so bad for so long, I'm amazed he wasn't employed by the club. We must be the only team that can set up a chance for the opposition from our own throw from anywhere on the pitch.

Going to show my age now. Seem to remember Ian Hutchinson of Chelsea winning an FA with a long throw onto the head of David Webb, 1970 ?

First FA Cup final I watched, I liked both teams but that Chelsea side was good.

I have no idea how effective long throw-ins are statistically, but I love it when we do them. It’s one of those things that gets the crowd going, like a crunching tackle.

I think where as corners are routinely over/under hit, throws are usually the same consistently . They are thrown as hard as pos, so hit the same area regularly. No idea how the stats add up, but ours against Reading was perfect. Runners to near post not only drag defenders forward, but the flick on has defenders flat footed and Atkinson's run drags another out. Weimann is in the perfect position virtually unmarked.
It's hard to get that all in one play, what it can supply regularly is excitement specially when you have someone that can win headers in the box.

Caught a bit of Warnock on Talksport this morning. Apart from bemoaning that linesmen incorrectly flagged against his players on a few occasions, he commented on West Brom stuffing Sheff U last night.

He said that 9 of their players have long throws so when Boro play them he will have tp prepare for throws into the box from anywhere from the half ay line.

Old Colin is prone to a bit of exaggeration

Weimann has scored some good headers for us….seems to generate power too.

He's naturally very athletic I think, possibly the most in the squad. Wouldn't be surprised if he had some of the best stats for things like bleep test, vertical jump (if they measure that) and other explosive exercises.

His movement also helps - I've said many times I think often he's on a different wavelength to the rest of the squad. Very lucky he's back fit as he will be a real asset.

Parents both athletes.

Sheffield United look devoid of any confidence.  Back to back relegations?!

Squad and manager way too good. But might take them a while to get it together while Fulham, Bournemouth and WBA storm away.

Re long throws, Thomas Gronnemark was on Five Live Football this week talking about Mads Bech Sorensen's word class throw ins for Brentford. Sounds ridiculous but clearly an underdeveloped facet of game that can benefit from specialised coaching. And see the video below - TG has some skills.
