Bored of watching our beloved Bristol City unable to stitch back to back wins together, enjoy chaotic football, like having a heart condition?

Then there is only one man for us. If anyone could get our misfiring midfield going it's Bielsa

Could you ever see it happening, will he return to England? Probably no to both, but getting us playing wildly exciting footie and into the premiership

then let's have some of that.

Of course it will never happen, so we will stick to our box entries and injury lists and on/off love in with Cheers Nige

but just for a moment imagine us supporting the most exciting team in football.

Leeds defence under him makes ours look like George Grahams Arsenal

No, in the season of our cup run (2017/2018) we finished 11th despite being well set for promotion - we were 2nd in the table on Boxing Day 2017 ... then we plummeted ... 2nd on Boxing Day, 11th at the end of the season - I wouldn’t call that ‘decent’ ...

You wouldn’t of called our cup run phenomenal?

Yes of course, it was phenomenal - just like our league cup runs to the semi finals were in 1970/1971 and 1988/1989 - but the fact remains, we were in an automatic promotion spot on Boxing Day and we finished 11th - not decent ...

Let’s be honest we weren’t expecting to be pushing for the play offs that season. Therefore 11th, albeit it disappointing since Boxing Day, and a great cup run, lead to a decent season. Not dire, not great, just decent. I’d take that season over this in a heartbeat.

At worst, we should have made the playoffs- I believe top 2 was too big an ask but we should definitely with the margin for error we had, combined with the confidence of the Cup run have got top 6 IMO. Should not could.

OTOH LJ had his good points, and his bad points but not to make top 6 minimum of once in his tenure- for differing reasons in each case- this was a failure I believe.

2017/18

Aforementioned head start on most of the League, and the massive confidence from the Cup run. A wealth of Cup experience from 2013/14 to then in the squad would have really helped in the playoffs.

2018/19

One more CM- or trusting Walsh and Morrell more in order not to play Pack and Brownhill into the ground, playing a genuine 3 in there from time to time to ease a bit of pressure- might have helped us all round, would also say another CM and striker might have made the difference between a playoff place and just missing out. Some of that Cup experience still remained which would have helped in the playoffs. Occasionally putting Weimann as central striker, and rotating Diedhiou- by all means use him in some of those tougher away games where we have less of the ball...but an extra CM between Brownhill and Pack, then Paterson, O'Dowda/Eliasson and Weimann...interesting possibilities and would reduce a temptation to hit it long with big Diedhiou up front.

2019/20

The worst football of the 3 years but otoh he had everything he wanted...Benkovic, Henriksen, Wells- arguably didn't use any of these 3 correctly post addition, he had what he wanted- as well as Bentley, Kalas, DaSilva, Nagy, Massengo, Afobe in the summer- albeit a few of these came later. Yes he largely had what he wanted, although bad luck with injury early (within 6 weeks Kalas, DaSilva, Nagy, Afobe ranging from medium to season ending injuries), he perhaps could have utilised his squad better tactically amongst other failings.
