Bumped into Neil the bassist a few years back at a gig down here in Exeter. Started gushing like a teenager - the only band that would make me do that ?

Brian ‘Gabby’ Stevens only gave up refereeing in 2019 aged 80!
Still lives in Stonehouse and still loves to talk about the game.

And has some very fond memories of Brian Clough in particular.

My old geography teacher Alec Lees was a ref, who even reached International levels (he reffed an historic Soviet Union v China game in the 70s).

Us kids always liked to take the pee on Monday when Mr Lees got a 0/5 rating in the Sunday papers after an inept display.

No Lester Shapter, Dave? Disappointed with that ....

Ahh Lester. He was the Ref for us in a cup game ( South Devon League) late 70s.

We drew so Lester had to do the replay.

He was right pissed off as he would have been doing a top flight game that Saturday, still he must have enjoyed it, well we did as we won the replay!!!!!
