Kid in the Riot
Brilliant article from Barney Ronay on him: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2022/sep/15/farewell-roger-federer-greatest-player-era-tennis-greats Was fortunate enough to see him in the flesh at Wimbledon and Roland Garros. The GOAT for me.
Admin phantom Posted September 23, 2022 Admin Report Share Posted September 23, 2022 At the same event earlier in the day, what goes through these peoples minds?? The person screamed in agony as incredible video footage and pictures showed his right arm engulfed by flames. It's believed the yob was a climate change protester. The moment happened before the start of the second set of Stefanos Tsitsipas’s 6-2 6-1 win over Diego Schwartzman Stunned onlookers watched on as he stormed the court before sitting down by the net. And yet he will be taken to hospital no doubt while someone who isn’t a bellend will not be able to get a ambulance

It's this Tory government. Good job he didn't try that stunt in Cornwall, for example, he'd be dead by now.
Super
Shame the great man couldn't finish with a win but it didn't matter. What a career and actually played better than Rafa tonight. Tennis will miss him.

Rafa crying like a baby that his greatest rival and protagonist has retired has tipped me over the edge. These two have done more for a sport I love than anyone in my living memory. Two legendary sportsman. Roger, merci. Edit: Roger now telling his children he is happy whilst crying, whilst they are crying because he is crying Edited September 23, 2022 by Kid in the Riot
stephenkibby.
Greatest player ever? Can never be proven but best player to watch? By a Country mile for me. The players that i loved watching apart from Federer were Borg Edberg and Agassi. Thank God for Alcaraz after all the pretenders of the last 10,15 years, it's going to be a lot harder for Djokovic or Nadal from now on. Got to be a multiple Grand Slam winner, has the all round game, some of his net play at the US Open was brilliant.

But I agree with you, it's not just about titles, I'd rather watch Federer in his prime than the other two.
