In the Net
Now you're making me feel very old! Ernie Hunt was the maestro I believe - a very clever routine.

slartibartfast
Willie Carr and Ernie were the partners in crime. Ernie did something very similar with Gillies(?) away at WBA, I seem to remember .

MSN Red
Lived in Coventry as a child and I remember being at a game when they tried it again. I am sure it was against Tottenham with Pat Jennings in goal and this time it hit the bar. After that it was banned as it was considered a flick and not a kick. I guess it’s being pedantic but I seem to remember it was considered a double touch as the ball was between his heels

That was the rule wasn’t it.

gavlin
Ernie did the same free kick for City at Ashton Gate, remember seeing it and playing in a school match the following week and trying it and our centre forward cleared the bar by miles.
