I think the fact we played 3 natural midfielders and left Weimann on the bench really helped.

I thought Williams, Scott and James had decent games and looked far more comfortable than when there is only 2 of them in the middle of the park

Spot on. The only worry is the lack of legs when it's him and Williams adding Scott in there last night was massively helped them. Maybe now Weimann has to contest one of the forward spots.

Exactly. He fulfils the defensive midfielder role with more solidity than Williams, and also feeds it out of the middle of our half. An understated but crucial role.

As for Andi, I've always maintained he's more a striker than a midfielder.

Made captain tonight…and I think he should retain that whoever else is in the team.

Was a story (unsubstantiated) at one point that he was thinking of suing the club.  Probably complete bollocks, but would’ve been a huge criticism of the previous team.

He certainly went public about how unhappy he was with his treatment and it was reported that he arranged his own operation in the end.

I began to wonder whether the specialist in Solihull he kept being sent to was another member of the Ashton entourage! ?

The fact they absolutely crippled him, I wouldn’t surprised. Being thrown in back to back to games with basically still a torn hamstring is gross negligence worthy.

I've never really got the flak for James.

Experience, stability, technically sound. Glue that can hold the midfield together at times.

Some of our fans were expecting a cross between Zidane and Maradona because he’s won a Premier league.
The guy has a big reputation but plays more the ‘ water carrier’ role dictating the play.
