Port Said Red
Not a dig as such as I thought he had a reasonable game (let down by his assistants as usual), but can any referees on here tell me if he should have called a drop ball in the first half? I know that if the ball hits the referee it's a drop ball, but surely the same should be true when, as happened today, the referee clearly obstructs the defending player? (Scott) Luckily Swansea wasted the breakaway, but if they had scored I think there would have been a lot of very annoyed fans and players. Other than when the ball hits them and affects possession , they are ‘part of the pitch’

I scored one of my best ever goals in an illustrious career of both playing and reffing. New Cheltenham playing fields one Sunday afternoon when I used to do the kids league. Parent and child abuse galore - as in abuse from. Goal stood. I never reffed kids football again…

RedM
I thought it was drop ball if ball hits the Ref, other than that if a player runs into him then its treated like any other player on the pitch, so just tough luck.
petehinton
Been surprised to see so many say he was a good ref. I thought he was fairly woeful. So many times he got in the way of play or obstructed the view of passes to players.

Surely it's a free kick to us then because he obstructed Scott without any intention of playing the ball.

I guess its to stop players running into Refs and getting rewarded when they have made an error themselves?

You can thump the ground to vent, so presumably you can do this to any part of the pitch?
Swede
He should've stopped play and had a drop ball. There was a clear unfair advantage gained. I thought he was a meddler. There was a few things he let go only to blow for a foul for a similar offences shortly after. In fairness he wasn't helped by two very incompetent linesmen. The ref ,he was blowing for fouls that weren't fouls, and fouls that were, he would let go,he was very slow with his whistle, and the linesmen on the Williams side, less said the better, woeful whole game,
