We've used it for a while now apparently. Going back to Nagy's departure, even though there was no fee. Obvious but worth pointing out that the pandemic fundamentally altered the transfer market beneath the Prem & I guess this is a good way of trying to ensure you still get market value. In Semenyo’s case it now seems clear that whilst we understandably tried to get an auction going, only Bournemouth were interested, so as we needed a sale to stay inside FFP, this was the way we chose to make sure we didn’t sell too cheaply in a situation where there was only one bidder. 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So we pitched AS out to other clubs as a saleable asset, I obviously have no idea of Antoine's attitude and position on this, but come the summer, he would still have had a year left on his contract? So was it never feasible to retain his services for a further 4 Months, thus giving us the possibility of finishing higher up the league? Of course he could have become injured, but by the same token, he could have scored 10 more goals and assisted 5 more.....boosting his value and propelling us up the table...........or am i being naive? Its the first place I go to when someone comes up with a random foreign player in the transfer sub forum. Theres another one too: https://analyticsfc.co.uk/gbe-calculator/ They aren’t 100% accurate, especially where a player moves mid season and between one tier and another, but it’s a good starting point. Player side ignored…there were some good financial / FFP reasons for selling him this season rather than having both AS’s sold in the summer (beyond 31st May when the accounting year ends). Smooth out those losses!!! Plus it’s now been widely reported that not only was he not interested in signing another contract but that he was pushing for a move from the start of the season. People always reckon there is some much better solution out there but as it is obvious now there was only ever one bidder, to get them to raise their offer twice strikes me as the best we could do in the circumstances.
