The good:

1986 - City winning the Freight Rover Trophy final by beating Bolton Wanderers

The not so good:

1987 - City losing the Freight Rover Trophy final to Mansfield Town on penalties

2008 - City losing to Hull City in the Championship Play-off Final

Any other key moments involving City & 24 May?

17 year old me was in absolute pieces trundling around London after the Hull game.

So much hope and belief crushed into nothingness. And to think, that remains the peak of supporting City in my lifetime.

❤️‍?

Same, but 20y/o. Just wanted to get home asap.

Happy anniversary ??

Trouble was due to playing I gave her May as the only month we could get married as WC was in 86.  Was at both Hereford games & didn’t know whether to laugh or cry leaving the Gate. My old man said he was going to Wembley as I could always get married again but City would never get to Wembley again.

Remember seeing a coach on the way home with a banner on back widow?

GORDON OWEN LYNCH SQUAD.

He missed a penalty in the last game against Swindon to keep us out of the playoffs as well as  Wembley.

Despite all the flack Owen gets on here for those penalty misses in 87, he must've had some talents as far as spot-kicks were concerned as England hired him as the penalty specialist coach for both the 1990 World Cup and 1996 Euros.

I remember early the next season he took and scored from the spot. Then he was sold

Tasty ???, honestly think Swindon fans have never been so scared in there lives , City every where outside ,firstly they wouldn’t come out then got to the rising sun and were penned in by city fans trying to get at them , never seen so many fans being friends with the coppers . Long as.k back to temple meads for them that day ??
