Oh Louie louie
I got two questions on city, I let the side down, I couldn't answer both, question one which ex player scored his first goal at Ashton gate for his club, well technically not playing for the home or away club??? Well that one threw me, the second was easy, but my train of thought had gone, who was the last player to play for city and be in the Guinness book of records? BromleyRed
Is one of them goalkeeper related?
Oh Louie louie
Nope Bromley ones a striker, others a midfielder, not many clubs borrowed our ground to play fixtures over the years, the Guinness book of records guy was some player in his short spell here
Eddie Hitler
They are really obscure. I doubt many on here could even have a decent guess, I can't.
Silvio Dante
Just thinking on the first one - could that be the Torquay keeper who scored in the National League playoff final? Neither side were technically home or away and it was definitely his first. And Matthew Briggs, youngest PL footballer for Fulham still held the record while on loan at us.
grifty
I’m not sure I understand the wording for the 1st question. Is it which ex City player scored his first goal at Ashton Gate while technically not being a home or away team? Would suggest a neutral venue so maybe an u21 or younger international game? What ex youth internationals have we signed? Tammy maybe?

Oh Louie louie
Indeed Eddie, normally I get a lift to the robin's, got dumped on west street with a dubious excuse last night, think my captaincy is on the line tbh, think of a game we hosted in the 80s

Oh Louie louie
The Guinness book of records guy involves a cup final, that should make it easy

At the time he played for us he held the record of youngest ever PL player, which is in Guinness, and he post dated Allen’s spell with us. Oh Louie louie
Paul Allen's the player, and the striker question who scored his first goal at Ashton gate for his club, while technically not being the home or away club was even more annoying

Oh Louie louie
No grifty was a game our ground was used for a neutral venue, and this player scored his first goal for his club in this game, not going to ring him now silv, but I will bring this up at the next quiz, and demand a stewards

And in which case one possible answer (and the most recent answer) is indeed the Torquay GK. No neutral games have been played at AG since. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_National_League_play-off_final So, it seems the quizmaster, and not you, had a bad night at the quiz as he was wrong on both! Probably in the way it was positioned.
Oh Louie louie
You knew I was thinking of that one? Well why on earth didn't you say before you started posting pictures of dusty bin? Hmmm

Oh Louie louie
Our quizmaster might not be much, he's 68, and might get a bit of research wrong, but he brings joy to many, and his word is final
