Ah, Maryhill! I have spent spent sooo many splendid Saturday afternoons in that delightful part of Glasgow - watching the world famous ‘Harry Wraggs’ - the ‘Maryhill Magyars’ - the ‘Red & Yellow Army’ - the ‘Great Glasgow Alternative’ - standing in the renowned ‘Jackie Husband Stand’ belting out the anthems - “I’ve followed the Thistle for Many a Day...” - “Hello, Hello, How do you do? We hate the boys in royal blue, we hate the boys in emerald green ...” - “We are coming, we are coming, we are coming down your road, when the hear the noise of the Partick Thistle boys, we are coming down your road” (that one was sung at Firhill decades before the tartan army and Liverpool fans decided to plagiarise it as their own)

... ah, Saturdays in Maryhill, just wonderful ... the chaps, the pubs (we always met at a cracking boozer - ‘The Abbotsford Inn’ in Bearsden - before snaking our way to Maryhill), the rubbish weather, the banter, the passion of the fans (way above anything I’ve seen before or since) - I still get up there whenever I can - it’s just brilliant ... ?
