Thanks for sharing this . Amazing what they can do now . Doesn’t damage the pitch when they have concerts etc . Think they have similar at Lille . When do we think Uncle Steve might get on these pitches at the Gate ?!!

Certainly would help if the football and rugby pitches were under opposite stands.

Prioirities - we have cryo chambers at the HPC, but no undersoil heating. Ashton logic.

Not really sure training or stadium facility improvements are one you can use to knock SL to be honest…

How many home games in the last 20 years have been postponed due to a frozen pitch?

What is the reason for having it retractable?

Remember when we were kids playing football, and one of the lads would go home in a huff 'cause he was losing, but it was his ball so it's game over?

This is a step up from that!

I’m a bit out of the loop living over here, but aren’t Rovers currently looking to make their tent retractable?

I heard there were complaints because the locals thought the technology being used was some sort of witchcraft.

Rovers taken the other option and gone for a retractable stand at the south end. Unfortunately it takes about 10 months for it to disappear and reappear.

No need for undersold heating

If the weather is that cold to freeze the pitch Health and safety would call the game of due the the area around the ground being unsafe

Also how many games have we had called off due to the weather over the last 25 years

We should install this and then retract part of the pitch if we're doing badly. Be easier to defend half the pitch. If we do it when they have a throw-in, their player might fall in the gap.

Seeing as the pitch retracts along one touchline that might explain why there are fewer wingers in the game these days.

And add a tilt function so the opposition always have to attack uphill

They have similar at Schalke as well. Their retractable pitch goes under one of the main stands and sits outside, though, so it’s open to the elements.
