Vyners Tackle

We got away with a lot of sliding tackles today. Most well-timed, but in the modern game unusual to see.

Surprised people rave about Zak, was very sloppy in possession up until his goal saving tackle. Watch how he jumps in creating the space for the west brom striker, got fortunate to get back this time:

If he completely goes through him, that’s different.

The fact that it's a contact sport seems to be forgotten. I couldn't be sure when I saw it live and still not sure having watched the video.

Not sure means no penalty.

Bit harsh but this clip is what I was alluding to, he got sucked in but he was too far off his man to go and follow like that - too easy for the striker to do exactly what he did.

However, someone should have been picking up the player he dropped it back to, and then Naismith makes the mistake of also going once Vyner’s gone. Easy to say in hindsight but Naismith should have dropped off to cover.

Thought both had good games though so not trying to be critical.

I actually thought Vyner had a good game generally.

Would we be discussing Vyner's tackle if they were still wearing the really baggy shorts from 10 years or so ago?

I loved that tackle and his determination to get back and make amends for the mistake. That sort of thing gets the crowd going and really endears players to the fans.
